COMO Cocoa Island
Our Opinion
Cocoa Island has been under the COMO umbrella for fifteen years, and it shows in every detail. This is a small, beautifully curated island — 33 overwater suites, a 45-minute speedboat from Male — and it has consistently ranked among the Maldives' top resorts for its cool, understated elegance. The suites take their cue from the traditional Maldivian dhoni, with clean lines, bleached wood, and direct lagoon access. You can walk the entire island in fifteen minutes.
Dining is a la carte across the board. Ufaa, the main restaurant, is the kind of place that makes seafood and organic vegetables feel exciting — unpretentious but clearly aimed at a discerning palate, blending European techniques with Indian and Mediterranean warmth.
The COMO Shambhala Retreat spa is as good as you would expect from this brand, and the dive school manages to be both professional and genuinely friendly, whatever your level.
Cocoa is not cheap. But it delivers. Low season packages offer real value, and the recent upgrade programme — covering villas, Ufaa, Faru Bar, and the wellness centre — has only sharpened what was already an exceptional product.
