The Compass Bar does a fine light lunch, with the Impossible Chilli Tacos a standout for plant-based diners, and Lucky's Angelfish Cocktail is complimentary for our guests.

The house reef, a short paddle from the sunrise beach, is in fine condition and teeming with marine life — turtles, reef sharks and a kaleidoscope of tropical fish. The absence of motorised water sports keeps the reef undisturbed and the snorkelling sublime.

With just 50 villas, the facilities are intimate and well-judged. The overwater spa may be modest by some standards, but the treatments — especially the signature massage — are outstanding. The small gym offers glorious tropical lagoon views and stays quiet, with all the essentials.
