Atmosphere Hotels and Resorts launched its first Maldivian property here in 2013, setting a new benchmark for premium all-inclusive holidays in the islands.

The island stretches an impressive 2.5km — one of the longest in the Maldives — with a superb beach running along the sunset side and a more rugged, natural shoreline on the atoll edge opposite. All of the generously sized beach villas and suites are positioned on the sunset side, each with direct beach access, including dedicated family villas that work well for those travelling with children. A further 40 overwater villas were added in 2019, extending over the lagoon. Electric buggies are available for getting around when walking feels like too much effort, and bicycles can be hired for a modest daily fee — all of which goes to a children's foundation on a neighbouring local island.

The KANIFUSHI PLAN inclusive package is impressively comprehensive, covering a wide selection of branded drinks and access to the award-winning Just Veg restaurant, which is well worth booking for at least one evening. There is also a seafood fine-dining option out on the water villa jetty. Between the excellent facilities, organized activities, and genuinely family-friendly accommodation, it is easy to see why this resort remains so popular with both couples and families.

Summary

Atmosphere Kanifushi is a five-star resort located in the Lhaviyani Atoll, around 30 minutes from Malé by seaplane. It has been welcoming guests since December 2013.

The island itself measures roughly 2km long and just 90 metres across, with stretches of white sand beach, dense palm trees, and abundant tropical greenery. All Atmosphere guests enjoy complimentary access to the seaplane terminal lounge, with free refreshments and Wi-Fi before departure, and a dedicated team escorts arrivals and departures at the resort.

There are 162 standalone villas and suites in total. Of these, 122 are beachfront properties set along the west-facing lagoon side of the island, while 40 overwater villas sit above the lagoon on the same side. With the exception of the Water Villa category, all accommodation looks out over the sunset.
