Coco Bodu Hithi
Our Opinion
Coco Bodu Hithi opened in 2006 as one of Coco Collection's flagship Maldivian investments, and the years have been kind to it. The island carries a lush, mature tropical atmosphere that many newer resorts are still working to cultivate, and sensible pricing keeps it accessible without compromising the experience.
Villas are spacious across all categories, each with a private pool. The Island Villas stand out for their walled garden pools — entirely enclosed, offering complete seclusion. Water Villas and Escape Water Villas share a jetty with deck steps leading directly to the strongest section of the house reef, making them the natural choice for anyone keen on snorkelling. The Coco Residences sit on a separate jetty for those who prefer a quieter setting.
The style here is warm and traditional rather than sleekly contemporary, which is worth knowing in advance. If that's not your preference, there are resorts that will suit better — but for those who appreciate character over minimalism, Bodu Hithi delivers it in spades.
Dining is broad and well-considered, the over-water spa is a genuine highlight, and watersports plus a PADI dive centre keep active guests well occupied. There's no kids' club, so younger families may find it less suitable — but couples and grown-up groups are very well looked after.

Summary
Coco Bodu Hithi is a well-established resort in the North Male Atoll, particularly popular with honeymooners and couples in search of a relaxed, stylish retreat.
Set on a medium-sized island with dense tropical vegetation and palm trees throughout, the resort provides a varied range of accommodation. Island Villas are among the more generously proportioned land-based options — spacious and well equipped with a flat-screen TV and DVD player, a private pool directly accessible from the bedroom, and a patio leading to the beach. For guests conscious of value, Bodu Hithi remains one of the more competitively priced resorts in its category.
Three over-water villa types are also available: Water Villas, Escape Water Villas and Coco Residences, all featuring an infinity pool on the deck with open lagoon views. Combining an Island Villa for the first part of a stay with a Water Villa for the final few nights is a popular option.
Air serves as the main dining venue, while Aqua provides an over-water setting for meals. Beach dining is available at Breezes, and the Latitude Bar is well positioned for sundowners. Stars, Tsuki and the Wine Loft complete a broad dining selection.
The Coco Spa offers treatments alongside a curated range of skincare products available at the Spa Boutique, with dedicated Yoga and Tai Chi pavilions also on site. Dive Ocean is a 5-Star PADI dive centre, and there is a well-stocked Watersports Centre for those who prefer time on the water. On land, an over-water Fitness Centre provides a good range of equipment, and a floodlit tennis court is located near reception. Complimentary Wi-Fi is provided throughout the resort and in the villas.
