Hideaway Beach Resort & Spa

Our Opinion
Set in the Haa Alifu Atoll, Hideaway Beach Resort & Spa is a five-star property offering a mix of beach and overwater accommodation. It's a sizeable resort, well-equipped with facilities that work nicely for families.

As one of the Maldives' most northerly resorts, the journey here takes longer — around 75 minutes by seaplane — but the secluded setting more than compensates. A domestic flight paired with a short speedboat ride is also available as an alternative transfer option.

Summary
Hideaway Beach Resort & Spa sits on Dhonakulhi Island in the northern Maldives, offering five-star accommodation that includes Beach Villas, Suites, Family Villas with private pools, and Water Villas with pools.

The island is crescent-shaped, with roughly 1.4 km of beach on each side and a width of around 500 metres. Its shallow, waist-deep lagoon is filled with clear turquoise water that stretches outward in every direction. The reef system here is particularly distinctive — a natural channel divides it into two halves, creating a sheltered harbour for the marina, the first of its kind in the Maldives.

Transfers from Male involve a 50-minute domestic flight followed by a 15-minute speedboat ride, or a direct 75-minute seaplane journey.

The island's vegetation is lush and varied, with coconut palms, banana trees, and rubber-tree-like species covering the landscape.
