Our Opinion

Komandoo sits as the quieter sibling to its larger neighbour Kuredu -- a compact island blessed with gorgeous white sand beaches and a genuinely serene atmosphere. It is designed for relaxation, pure and simple.

This is very much a couples' retreat. Children are not accommodated, which makes it especially popular with honeymooners and anyone craving a proper escape from everyday life.

We recommend the All-Inclusive package -- it keeps things straightforward, with no unexpected bills when you get home.

Summary

Komandoo is the more refined, peaceful counterpart to neighbouring Kuredu. Though they share dive sites and excursions, the experience at Komandoo is altogether different -- calmer, more intimate, and designed for unwinding.

The island first opened in November 1998 as the second resort in Lhaviyani Atoll. Seaplane transfers take around 40 minutes from Male.

Falhu Restaurant is the main dining venue, serving buffet-style breakfast, lunch and dinner in a traditional thatched setting with a sand floor and assigned tables. Aqua Restaurant offers an a la carte alternative with international dishes, fresh seafood and prime cuts. The Kandu Bar sits beside the infinity pool with an al fresco deck overlooking the lagoon, and the Thundi Bar serves drinks right on the beach. Two all-inclusive meal plans are available.

Facilities include a freshwater infinity pool overlooking the beach, multi-purpose sports courts and a fitness centre. Deep-sea fishing, night fishing, and guided diving and snorkelling trips are available through the Prodivers centre. The Duniye Spa offers a tropical spa experience for men and women, combining Asian massage techniques with a holistic approach and organic products.
