Our Opinion

Kuredu is a sizeable island resort with a distinctly lively, sociable atmosphere — helped along by 3km of gleaming white sand and an energy that suits families and groups alike. More than three-quarters of guests choose all-inclusive, and it is easy to see why: the value stacks up impressively once you factor in the breadth of dining, activities and evening entertainment on offer. This is a resort for those who want sun, sea and plenty to do, all wrapped up in a package that is hard to beat on value.

Summary

Kuredu occupies its own private island in Lhaviyani Atoll, a long ribbon of sand fringed by a beautiful lagoon. At roughly 1,800 metres in length, it ranks among the larger islands in the Maldives, so there is plenty of room to spread out and explore. Guests arrive by seaplane, with the flight from Velana International Airport taking around 40 minutes.

The resort is split into three distinct zones, each with its own character and reception: the Main Area, open to all ages; O Resort, reserved for guests aged 12 and over; and Sangu, a peaceful hideaway for guests aged 15 and above. No matter which area you stay in, the island's full range of facilities is available to you.

Dining is impressively varied. Buffet restaurants are assigned by room type, while a la carte venues serve Mediterranean, Asian and French-inspired dishes with a local Maldivian twist. Bars take in a tiki-style beach bar, a poolside bar known for frozen cocktails, a tea house at the end of the arrival jetty, a gin bar and a wine cellar stocked with 250 labels.

For those who like to stay active, Kuredu is difficult to beat: a PADI dive centre with its own hyperbaric chamber, a watersports centre running everything from parasailing to kayaking, tennis and padel courts, a golf driving range and six-hole pitch and putt course, football and cricket pitches, a fitness centre and two Duniye spas.
