Our Opinion

Naladhu consistently ranks among our most-loved luxury hideaways in the Maldives. With just 19 villas, the whole resort feels intimate and exclusive — private rather than sprawling.

The accommodation splits between serene beach villas on the lagoon side and dramatic ocean-view rooms where you can hear the waves breaking on the outer reef. That proximity to real surf is surprisingly uncommon in the Maldives.

Service is everything you would expect at this calibre: polished, attentive, and never intrusive. And one of Naladhu's cleverest assets is its connection to the neighbouring Anantara Veli and Anantara Dhigu, linked by jetties and regular launches across the shared lagoon. Guests effectively get the run of three islands' worth of restaurants and activities, with the option to retreat to their own quiet sanctuary whenever they choose.

The only real shortcoming is the lack of a house reef. Serious snorkellers and divers will need to take a boat to find the best underwater life. But if you can live with that, Naladhu remains an exceptionally elegant choice.

Summary

Naladhu occupies the island of Velighandu Huraa in the South Male Atoll, part of a small cluster of islands that share a sheltered lagoon. The resort name translates to 'pretty little island' — an apt description. Transfers from Male take approximately 35 minutes by speedboat.

Accommodation is exclusively in spacious beach houses, each with its own private pool. The villas face either the calm lagoon side or the ocean side, where the waves break closer to shore than is typical across the Maldives.
