Our Opinion

Jumeirah Maldives Olhahali Island opened its doors as a Jumeirah property in October 2021, having previously operated as LUX* North Male. It’s an all-villa resort in the North Male Atoll with a contemporary Mediterranean feel that sets it apart from many of its neighbours. We’re yet to revisit since the rebrand, so we’ll update this page once we’ve been back.

Summary

The resort is currently undergoing a series of renovation projects scheduled to continue through to the end of 2026. These works are being managed carefully to minimise any impact on guests, and the resort remains open throughout.

Set in the North Male Atoll, Jumeirah Maldives Olhahali Island is accessible by a 55-minute speedboat transfer or a 15-minute seaplane flight.

Rather than following the traditional thatched-roof aesthetic common across the Maldives, this resort takes a distinctive approach with oversized penthouse residences inspired by modern Mediterranean design.

Facilities include an infinity pool overlooking the ocean, complete with a sunken deck layered with oversized cushions for lounging. A second pool sits at the beachclub, alongside a billiard hut, tennis courts and beach volleyball. Younger guests will find a splash park, indoor play area and an outdoor cinema to enjoy.

Complimentary activities cover all non-motorised watersports — canoes, stand-up paddleboards, windsurfing, pedal boats and snorkelling equipment. For those seeking something faster, waterskiing, jet-skiing, kite surfing, flyboarding, parasailing and PADI scuba courses are available at an additional charge, along with catamaran excursions and private trips by speedboat, yacht or dhoni.

The Talise Spa features five overwater treatment rooms offering a full menu of therapeutic and re-energising treatments. A beauty salon, sauna and fitness centre round out the wellness offering.
