Our Opinion

Avani Hotels (sister to the Anantara brand) has entered the Maldives with Avani+ Fares Resort on Fares Island in Baa Atoll — its first property in the destination. We haven't visited yet but are very much looking forward to experiencing it first-hand.

Summary

Set on Fares Island at the western edge of Baa Atoll, Avani+ Fares Maldives Resort offers white sandy beaches and abundant marine biodiversity. The resort features 176 villas, rooms and pavilions, and is accessible via a 35-minute seaplane from Velana International Airport, or a 20-minute domestic flight to Dharavandhoo followed by a 35-minute speedboat transfer.

A century-old coconut plantation shades the pathways, while a 2.6 km lagoon bay shelters the house reef, two natural blue holes and numerous coral clusters — with dolphins frequently sighted in the mornings.

Whether you are after an active stay or a luxuriously relaxed escape, the resort delivers with sunset cocktails, dancing under the stars or simply floating through the days, all infused with Haharu, the Maldivian spirit of hospitality.
